Traslochi

The photographs and poems both use psychologically charged images to evoke states of being. The photograph Three Chairs speaks of stillness and silence while Nautical Flags is a photograph that plays with ambiguity, coded language and open-ended questions. Self-renewal for Pennecchi is to be found in words. She expresses this in the first poem of her collection. For her the need to return to the crucible of language is urgent:
“I’ve got to go back/ to where I came from:/ words. From that first dumb/ guttural knot/ to the/ joyful crying of swallows. /From that word/ that makes things so clear. /So, /simply.”
The catalogue is a square format with an innovative design by graphic artist Davide Bolzonella. Essays by Vicki Goldberg and Angela Madesani introduce the photography. The show was held at GALLERIA SPAZIOTEMPORANEO DI PATRIZIA SERRA in Milan.

“For me,” Harris writes, “(the photographs) reflect what it means to move from one mental space to another while engaging in a physical reality…Spaces and objects are defined by light and we charge them with memories, giving them significance and making them ours. The past merges with the present, opening a way to the future. This happens in a frame that becomes part of a sequence. A narrative emerges. Traslochi is an open-ended narrative where photographs become vehicles to describe a state of tension and questioning when looking out at the world.”
